We are honored to be playing at San Clemente's Memorial Day ceremony on May 27th at 11:00 am. Memorial Day Observance | Event Calendar | City of San Clemente, CA (san-clemente.org)
Description
The 4-hour workshop offers education and a terrific opportunity to ring in a massed setting for all levels of handbell musicians. Learning moments during the workshop will focus on technique, articulations, and rhythmic drills to enhance skills and foster group cohesion needed for confident performances. Participants will explore an original handbell piece, “Inception,” by Jason W. Krug, with clinician Sharon Guilliams and the South County Community Handbell Choir. This piece was selected based on the variety of articulations used and the teachable moments available. In addition to the group instruction, participants will ring alongside handbell musicians from more experienced choirs to learn through observation and individual attention. Everything will be supplied for the participants and no prior preparation is needed. If you would like a sneak peek at the piece you may go to Handbell World | Inception Krug, Jason W. | Handbell World. Refreshments will be provided for the breaks.
This event is sponsored by Handbell Musicians of America, dedicated to uniting people through the musical art of handbell and handchime ringing.
